Employee Wellness Services; prioritising good mental health in your small business.

Having staff with a high level of well-being means they are feeling and performing well in their work and life. When people feel a sense of positive well-being, they are more engaged, safer in their work environments, and able to deal with life more successfully.

Creating a positive work environment has 2 components –

Intervention and Prevention.

1. Intervention: We work with your team members during/after a critical incident when there are issues within their work environment or for team members who may be experiencing distress within their personal world that is impacting their work involvement.

2. Prevention: Presenting to a group, groups or individuals’ information that needs to be discussed in a professional manner and context.

What is good Mental Health and how to have more of it?

According to the World Health Organization, good mental health is when you can: cope with the normal stresses of life work productively realise your potential to contribute to the community.  If you have good mental health, you might have emotions including happiness, love, joy, and compassion, and you feel generally satisfied with life.  These are feelings that saturate all aspects of our life, career, and relationships.

Being inclusive of diversity in the workplace.

Diversity in the workplace is the mix. It’s the presence of employees who all bring unique identities—that represent an intersection of ethnicities, races, physical traits, mental traits, life experiences, and much more. Diversity brings additional understandings, and perceptions and opens up an opportunity to create new experiences for us, our teams, and clients.

Resilience  Learning how to bend rather than break when life happens.

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity.  It is a necessary skill for coping with life’s inevitable stresses and obstacles. Resilience is one of the key ingredients to well-being and success in life.  Resilience is learning to bounce back and bounce forward.

How to solve conflict and communicate successfully.

Conflict is a normal part of any healthy relationship. After all, teams of two or more people can’t be expected to agree on everything, all the time, it’s just not realistic.  The key is not to fear or try to avoid conflict but to learn how to resolve it in a healthy way.  When conflict is mismanaged, it can cause great harm to a relationship, but when handled in a respectful, positive way, conflict provides an opportunity to strengthen the team. Whether you’re experiencing conflict at home, work, or school, learning these skills can help you resolve differences in a healthy way and build stronger, more rewarding relationships.

Drugs and Alcohol – in and out of the workplace.

Drugs and alcohol can have a serious impact on people’s lives and livelihood.  In Australia, as with most other countries, drugs and alcohol are used with frequency throughout the community.  Drugs and alcohol can lead to a variety of direct and indirect costs to our personal and professional lives.  A healthy relationship with these is a vital aspect of everyone’s overall safety – in and out of the work environment.
